Are We Beyond the Dean Scream Remix?
January 24, 2004
Don't know if this post by Oliver Willis is true, but I hope so for the sake of the Democratic Campaign.
"I think we may be at another one of those turning points.
The first few days of Dean and "the scream" were negative buzz for Howard - but with the complete media saturation of the moment, I think there may be a sense that the media is once again back to their dirty tricks of turning on someone based on nothing (see Gore, Al or Clinton, William J. for past instances). I think we like our presidents with some sort of crack in their armor, because it makes them human. I may see differently, but a lot of people like Bush because he doesn't "talk fancy". We know people liked the way Bill Clinton was a "good ole boy", and even Gore's social awkwardness made "the robot" a bit more human.
I think people may have written off Dr. Dean too soon."
