Gil and Byrne rock the Commons
September 23, 2004
In a fun and important event at the Town Hall in NYC on Tuesday night, Brazilian musician Gilberto Gil and America pop star David Byrne played together to benefit Creative Commons.
I haven't read too many articles in the press, but the event may help to raise the East Coast profile of Creative Commons licenses. Either way, I was personally blown away when Larry Lessig walked out on stage to My Life Changed and the first words out of his mouth were "Colin Mutchler."
Even though I feel like the example has been a little overplayed given how simple it is musically, it was still pretty cool to get some free press from the man himself at such a big event (thanks Larry). Also, I'll be doing a modified version of Language of My Reality tomorrow at IFP Market's special day on "Creativity vs. Copyright." My piece is at 9:50 am and I'm on a panel a few hours later.
