November 2: A Message to the Undecided
October 29, 2004
In the last few months, I've talked with several high school and college friends who are genuinely not sure how to vote on November 2. In general, my understanding is that you're not happy with George Bush and see that he has made many poor judgements over the last four years, but you're just not sure about John Kerry.
Here are my thoughts to you...
1. You may not be 100% sure about Kerry, but you are 100% sure about George Bush, that he has been a failure for our country. While you might have felt good about him in the months after September 11, since then he has completely destroyed the empathy of the world and the unity of America that we experienced during that time.
2. Another four years with Bush representing the United States, and the level of animosity and war in the world and in the US is guaranteed to continue to increase. Essentially, a vote for Bush is a vote for a christian vs. islam doomsday scenario. I hope that's not the future you'd like to vote for.
3. The global community (not just France and Germany, I'm talking about virtually every country on the planet) will be profoundly disappointed in our country if we re-elect this man as our president. His inability to create positive relationships with anyone who disagrees with him will further isolate America in the next four years.
4. In a post 9/11 globalized world, our big guns aren't enough to secure us any more. We need smart people like John Kerry who will actually listen to the intelligence community before sending our young men and women into battle.
Essentially, those are the reasons why I am voting for John Kerry and I hope you will as well. Yes, there are many other issues. Personally, I think Kerry would do a better job with virtually all of them. However, the issues above are the important ones. The ones that will enable America to continue to be America. Feel free comment on this post and I will respond before Tuesday.
