open thought and hip hop protest in brooklyn
October 4, 2004
I just walked back home to St. Felix St. from Southpaw and I'm still sweating from dancing and singing and moving to the people and the words and rhythms of Playback Theatre NYC, Open Thought, and a great crowd. The culture is catching up to the times, the meeting of the moments and the generations' minds.
Whatever the outcome in November, the energy is here and growing, the voices and music of the movements are becoming popular. Because Kymbali and Baba Israel are more on point and visionary than Dick Cheney and Bill O'Reilly. Because I'd rather vote for the future of Sarah Jones and Barack Obama than vote for the doomsay vision of George Bush and Osama.
